Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has said the only problem he had with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was his language, which he described as disrespectful and inciteful.
In a recent interview with Noble Nigeria, the literary icon noted that Kanu did nothing wrong by calling for a separate nation of Biafra, noting that the separatist leader “was never accused of physically bombing any place or killing anyone
He said, “He is one of the younger generations who inherited a burden of defeat, of resentment and a determination in their view, not to make the mistakes of their predecessors.
Tinubu laying solid, enduring foundation for Nigeria – Information Minister
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already started laying a solid and enduring foundation for the country over the last 12 months.
Speaking during the maiden edition of the first anniversary sectoral press briefing series organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in Abuja, Idris said almost a year ago,
President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were sworn into office and the administration came in on the strength of a Renewed Hope Agenda, which the government had been implementing with unparalleled commitment and dedication, from one.
Idris said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has decided to organize a low-key first anniversary celebration, in line with his policy of prudent management of the nation’s resources.
This decision underscores the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and the efficient management of resources while prioritizing the nation’s economic revival, stability and development.
“The Sectoral Press Briefings are accountability sessions designed by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation for various ministers to interact with the media and provide updates on their stewardship to the people of Nigeria by outlining their achievements, challenges, and future plans.
“As I noted in my remarks at an event on the Renewed Hope Agenda, last week, I have no doubt that life will get better for the people of Nigeria. We have already started laying that solid and enduring foundation, over the last 12 months.”
Benue Teachers to own Houses before Retirement – Gov Alia
Benue State Government has pledged to boost the morals of teachers in the state by ensuring that every one of them owns his or her house before retirement.
The Government is also unveiling a loan scheme that will enable teachers access loans to give their children better educational trainings.
The Director General, Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency (BEQA), Dr. Terna Francis, disclosed this on Thursday while playing host to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Benue state Council.
Dr Francis who commended the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia for deliberately motivating Benue teachers and the entire state workforce said the days when teachers received their salaries in heaven was over.
He recalled that “In the past, teachers were nobodies. They were considered as anything but going forward, the State Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has promised that he is going to make sure that before retirement, every teacher is going to own a house of his or her own.”
Police arrest man for forging magistrates stamps, impersonating police officer

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Charles Chukwudi, 48, for alleged forgery and impersonation.
The suspect was arrested for allegedly forging a magistrate’s stamp and impersonating a police officer.
