I Have Never Heard Where Nobel Laureates Are Being Insulted The Way Soyinka Is Being Insulted-Datti
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, claimed that Wole Soyinka, a Nobel Laureate, once criticized the late General Sani Abacha, referring to him as unintelligent. Baba-Ahmed argued that Abacha, despite lacking academic qualifications, was a capable soldier and did not deserve such derogatory remarks from Soyinka.
Soyinka argued that Peter Obi, preoccupied with his own challenges, couldn’t reasonably be held responsible for controlling the Obidients’ insults toward him. He emphasized that it’s Soyinka’s duty to uphold respect and dignity, not Peter Obi’s.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”For all I know, he (Soyinka) could continue to throw punches at my principal, at me as small as I am. He could continue to do that but all I can do is I will grieve in my heart and I will pray for him. Intellect does not give you the right to insult anybody. I remember this same Soyinka insulted the late Gen. Abacha that he was daft. Nothing gives him the right to do that. Abacus was not an academician, he was a soldier for God’s sake. And a good one for that matter in his own way.”

Not just for their nationals but globally. I have never heard where Nobel laureates are being insulted in the manner that Wole Soyinka is being insulted. There is no way Peter Obi with all the issues in front of him can control Obidients as they were. Peter Obi entered a cause without a life jacket and he paid for it. So it is not the work of Peter Obi to control the Obidients, it’s the responsibility of Wole Soyinka to maintain his respect and dignity….See More
