They Want South-East To Join Them In The Protest Against The Federal Government, We Say No – SERHA
The South East Renewed Hope Ambassadors (SERHA) have spoken out in response to the impending countrywide demonstration against poor government.
You may remember that several states in the federation have expressed their displeasure with the current plan by a group of young Nigerians to stage a 10-day statewide hunger and hardship protest in order to bring attention to the citizens’ deteriorating situation to the attention of the federal and state governments. A statement titled “August 1st protest” was signed by SERHA President Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu and published by Vanguard News.
The statement read as follows: “The Igbos are yet to recover from the Civil War which started in 1967 and ended in 1970, but left the entire Igbos in a state of ruins which the Igbos cannot afford to be sweet-talked and cajoled into joining any such gang up against the government of the day.
The people of South-East have learned to thrive independently of the government, he continued, and they have achieved remarkable stability in this regard. Regrettably, the remainder of Nigeria, which had observed the South-East’s gripes and struggles since the end of the civil war, is now experiencing some of the same hardships.
