Bello: Since 7th Sept 2021 To Date, $845,852.84 In Tuition Have Been Deposited In Our Account – AISA

The American International School of Abuja (AISA) has written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) requesting for “authentic banking details” to refund the school fees that the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, paid in advance for his children.

The EFCC is seeking to arrest the former governor allegedly misappropriating funds while he was in office.

The anti-graft agency had stormed Yahaya Bello’s residence in Wuse, Abuja, to arrest him, but the attempt was unsuccessful. After that, the EFCC had declared Yahaya Bello wanted, and had asked anyone who had information about his whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide.

During a recent interview with journalists in Abuja, the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, had said that Yahaya Bello moved money directly from government to bureau de change and used it to pay his children’s school fees in advance. He said that Yahaya Bello moved $720,000 in advance, in anticipation that he was going to leave office.

In reaction to this, the school has said that since September 7th, 2021, the sum of $845,852 had been paid in advance for Yahaya Bello’s five children who are in grade levels 2 to 8 at the school.

In a letter that was addressed to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, AISA said, “Please forward to us an official written request, with the authentic banking details of the EFCC, for the return of the above-mentioned funds as previously indicated as part of your investigation into the alleged money laundering activities by the Bello family.”
