According to a report by Fox News, on Sunday May 10, 2026, Senator John Hoeven (R-N.D.) expressed unwavering support for the ongoing naval blockade against Iran, characterizing the United States military’s current position as an absolute stranglehold that is essential for global security.

Speaking on the strategic importance of the mission, Hoeven emphasized that the administration’s peace through strength approach is the only way to bring the Iranian government to the negotiating table.

“President Trump and our incredible military continue to have an absolute stranglehold on Iran,” Hoeven stated. “You can see our military just gets better and better with the naval blockade.”

The Senator, who sits on the Senate Defense Appropriations and Energy Committees, outlined a clear set of objectives that he believes must be met before the pressure is eased.
