Iran Vows Total War, Says They’ll Destroy All Infrastructure and Close Hormuz Unless U.S. Surrenders

According to The Times of Israel on July 16, 2026, Iran’s military has reaffirmed its commitment to resist any U.S. intervention, saying it is prepared to continue fighting until the end.

Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia stated that the Strait of Hormuz would only be reopened if the United States fully complies with the 14-point memorandum of understanding signed in June and observes Iran’s shipping regulations in the waterway.

He warned that any U.S. attack on Iranian infrastructure, including threats reportedly made by President Donald Trump, would trigger a large-scale retaliation against U.S.-related infrastructure across the region.

Akraminia said Iran’s response would be more extensive and destructive than previous operations, reflecting the country’s readiness to defend its interests.

The Iranian military also claimed responsibility for strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Jordan, saying the attacks formed part of its defensive strategy.
