According to a video posted on Al Jazeera, on Friday 10, 2026, Mohammad Eslami, a research fellow at Tehran University, told Al Jazeera that Iran views the recent unclaimed attacks as a form of pressure from Washington tied to the stalled diplomatic process.

Eslami explained that from Tehran’s point of view, the United States appears to be signaling that without progress in negotiations, Israel may be permitted to continue carrying out operations inside Iran.

He said this reading of events reflects growing frustration in Tehran over the lack of a clear diplomatic path forward.

He noted that Israel’s own political situation may be shaping the timing of any renewed activity, pointing to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s upcoming election and ongoing legal case as factors that could affect decisions in Tel Aviv.

Eslami said Israel may be cautious about provoking Iranian retaliation during this sensitive period.

In his words, Mohammad Eslami said, “from the Iranian point it seems that the Americans want to convey a kind of message to the Iranians that in the absence of diplomatic negotiations they are going to let Israelis to have this kind of operations in Iran,” he said.

Eslami added that despite the pressure, he believes all sides are largely trying to avoid a full return to open conflict for now, with each side positioning itself carefully.
