According to a recent interview, Minister of Works David Umahi has condemned attempts by some individuals and political actors to link him to the death of nursing student Mary Habila, describing the allegations as false and politically motivated. Speaking during a media interview with Symponi, the minister said the unfortunate incident should not be turned into a tool for political attacks.
Umahi explained that Habila had been assigned to provide medical care while he was receiving treatment and had stayed within the guest facility at his residence. He questioned why anyone would suggest that she was deliberately harmed, insisting that such claims lacked any factual basis and only served to mislead the public.
In his words, “It is very strange why this unfortunate event is being twisted the way it is. Is it that we killed a woman who was treating me medically, administering drugs to me, someone who lived in our guest house, even at my residence in Asokoro? What kind of nonsense is that?”
The minister also disclosed that certain groups had reached out to him with threats of staging protests unless he met with them. He said he rejected such demands, maintaining that he would not be intimidated.
Umahi further stated that although he avoids unnecessary confrontations, he remains confident in defending himself, adding that truth and divine justice would ultimately prevail over political accusations…See_More
