How God Helped Me Respond With Humility Instead Of Anger To A Rude Pastor – Pastor Adeboye

At the 72nd Holy Ghost Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye shared a personal testimony of how good helped him responded humility instead of anger to a rude pastor as he emphasizes the transformative power of sanctification.

Speaking during the Day 3 Evening Service on August 7, 2024, Pastor Adeboye recounted an incident where he was confronted with rudeness from one of his senior pastors, and how God helped him to respond with humility instead of anger.

The incident occurred during a meeting with some of the senior pastors in a particular country. One of the pastors, who had served under Pastor Adeboye for years, began to speak to him in a disrespectful and accusatory manner. The pastor raised his voice, accusing Pastor Adeboye of neglect and ungratefulness for the work he had done. As the other pastors in the room looked on in shock and disbelief, Pastor Adeboye remained calm.

Reflecting on the moment, Pastor Adeboye explained that the natural human response, especially in his cultural context, would have been to react harshly or to remind the pastor of all he had done for him. In Yoruba culture, it is deeply offensive to remind someone of the help one has provided, and the expected reaction would be to sever ties and demand repayment. However, instead of lashing out, Pastor Adeboye responded with humility, saying, “My son, I am very sorry; please forgive me. I will be more careful in the future.”

Later that evening, as he reviewed the day’s events, Pastor Adeboye thanked God for giving him the grace to respond with humility, recognizing that this was only possible through the power of sanctification. “I didn’t know I could take that,” he admitted, acknowledging the work of sanctification in his life.

Pastor Adeboye used this testimony to illustrate the importance of sanctification in the life of a believer. He emphasized that true sanctification is like a crucifixion of the old self, where anger, pride, and other sinful tendencies are put to death permanently.

He encouraged the congregation to seek sanctification through salvation and to allow God to crucify any ungodly traits in their lives……See_More
