Pastor Adeboye Shares Story Of How An Alhaji From Ilorin Gave His Life To Jesus Christ
Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), delivered an inspiring sermon titled “Total Perfection” at RCCG Overcomers Assembly Region 31.
In his message, Pastor Adeboye recounted a remarkable story of redemption, illustrating the perfect and all-encompassing forgiveness offered by Jesus Christ.
He began his message by emphasizing the completeness of God’s work: “Everything He does, He does it perfectly,” he said. “When He decides to save your soul, He does it perfectly. 1 John 1:7 assures us of this. It doesn’t matter how bad you have been or how far gone in the world you were; when you give your life to Him, He saves perfectly. If the salvation comes from Him, it is perfect. When He forgives you, He forgives everything you have ever done.”
Pastor Adeboye shared the story how an Alhaji gave his life to Jesus Christ and recounted all evils he had done. “This Alhaji gave his life to Jesus Christ and went home rejoicing. But after some days, he came back and said, ‘Ha! I’m not sure Jesus can forgive all I’ve done.’ I assured him that His blood cleanses from all sins, but he was deeply troubled by his past.”
The Alhaji confessed to Pastor Adeboye about his involvement in various heinous acts. “He began to tell all manners of horrible things he had done. Finally, he shared the most disturbing act: he had exhumed the body of a deceased cousin to use the heart in making a charm for financial gain. He asked me, ‘Do you believe Jesus can forgive that?'”
Pastor Adeboye guided him to 1 John 1:7, which reads, “The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin.” He explained, “All means all—without exception.” This revelation brought the Alhaji immense relief and joy. From that day onward, he embraced his new faith wholeheartedly, praising the Lord and living according to His will.
