Among all my mother’s children, I am the only one who did not graduate from higher school- Omowura

Samshudeen Omowura, the son of the legendary Apala music crooner, Ayinla Omowura, shares with The Punch correspondent his thoughts about growing up without his father, the circumstances surrounding the singer’s tragic death, the struggle to preserve his legacy, among other issues.

During the interview, Samshudeen Omowura was told that he appeared uneducated and was asked why that was the case, as well as what he had benefited from the legacy of his late father, legendary Apala musician Ayinla Omowura, particularly as his mother’s only son.

While responding, he said, “As for my mother, she really tried her best. I stopped at secondary school level. Among all my mother’s children, I am the only one who did not graduate from higher school. Up till today, it still pains my mother that I am the only child who could not complete higher education.”

He explained that he believes destiny cannot be changed, saying that if it had been God’s plan for him to advance further in school, it would have happened. He stated that he attended one of the best schools in Abeokuta at the time, Salawu Abiola Secondary School, but maintained that wisdom and knowledge ultimately belong to God.

He added that it pains him that he could not continue his education, and as a result, he always prays that his own children and other members of the family will have better educational opportunities and succeed academically, noting that education brings exposure and enlightenment.

Samshudeen further reflected that if his father, legendary Apala musician Ayinla Omowura, had been alive, he would likely have progressed further in his studies. He said that growing up without both parents made life more difficult, especially regarding education and upbringing, but emphasized that only God truly understands all circumstances….See More
