Ovie Success Ossai, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has dismissed the possibility of Peter Obi securing a dominant victory in the South East during the 2027 general elections.
In a post on his X handle on Monday, May 4, 2026, Ossai argued that the shifting political atmosphere in the region favors the incumbent administration over Obi’s new alliance.

According to Ossai, these influential leaders would prioritize a strategic partnership with President Bola Tinubu over supporting Obi’s latest political venture, effectively neutralizing the massive bloc votes Obi enjoyed in the previous election cycle.
He wrote, “That massive votes from South East, Peter Obi won’t get it. Alex Otti is with APC, Soludo is with APC, Hope Uzodinma is with APC, Peter Mba is with APC, Francis is with APC. They would rather settle for Bola Tinubu than Peter Obi.”

Their move has triggered the birth of the Obi-Kwankwaso movement, popularly referred to as the OK movement, which seeks to merge the grassroots energy of the Obidients with the structured Kwankwasiyya base.
While the OK movement aims to create a formidable national force that transcends ethnic lines, critics like Ossai believe the consolidation of the South East governors under the ruling party creates an insurmountable barrier for the opposition.
As the 2027 race intensifies, the battle for the South East appears to be shifting from a populist surge toward a high-stakes struggle between the OL movement’s mobilization and the entrenched political machinery of the regional governors…See More
