According to Fox News, Marco Rubio has strongly defended the United States’ decision to respond militarily after Iranian forces allegedly targeted American naval vessels.
Emphasizing the need for self-defense, he argued that any nation under attack has a responsibility to retaliate.
“Only stupid countries don’t shoot back when you’re shot at. And we’re not a stupid country,” Rubio stated, reinforcing his stance that the U.S. acted appropriately.
He further explained that the incident involved American destroyers navigating international waters when they came under fire from Iranian forces.
According to him, the response from the U.S. military was strictly defensive and aimed at protecting personnel and assets.
“What you saw yesterday was U.S. destroyers moving through international waters, being fired upon by the Iranians. And the US responded defensively to protect itself. That’s what you saw,” he said.
Rubio reiterated that the retaliation was both expected and justified under the circumstances, stressing that no country would tolerate such aggression without responding.
“Of course, we fired back at them. They were shooting at us. That’s what I would expect to do,” he added.
His remarks highlight continued U.S. justification for its military posture, framing the response as a necessary act of self-defense rather than escalation….See More
