Obi: I have No Personal Grudge Against Anybody; I Am A Man In Search Of The Soul Of Nigeria—Okonkwo

In a recent interview on Channels Television, Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, spoke about political disagreements, opposition unity, and his broader perspective on national politics ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

During the interview, Okonkwo stated, “I have no personal grudge against anybody; I am a man in search of the soul of Nigeria.” He made the remark while addressing perceptions that his political positions were driven by personal disputes with key figures in Nigeria’s opposition landscape.

Okonkwo explained that his involvement in politics is motivated by what he described as a search for national transformation and better governance rather than personal conflict with any individual politician. According to him, political debates in Nigeria are often misinterpreted as personal attacks, whereas they should be viewed as ideological differences.

He further emphasized that opposition politics requires clarity of purpose and unity of vision if it is to effectively challenge the ruling party in future elections. The ADC chieftain maintained that internal disagreements should not overshadow the broader goal of building a stronger and more accountable democratic system.

Okonkwo also addressed the importance of national cohesion, arguing that Nigeria’s political evolution depends on leaders who prioritize national interest above personal ambition. He noted that his stance has consistently been shaped by his belief in equity, justice, and inclusive governance across all regions of the country.

He concluded by urging political actors and supporters to focus on constructive engagement rather than hostility, stressing that healthy political competition should ultimately contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions and fostering unity among its diverse population….See More
