According to a report by Leadership, on Friday May 15, 2026, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has blamed Nigeria’s current economic hardship on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that Nigerians are facing worsening living conditions across the country.
Amaechi made the statements while speaking on the state of the economy and political leadership, he argued that many citizens are struggling due to rising costs and financial pressure.
He stated that the situation is affecting all Nigerians regardless of religion or region, according to him, economic hardship does not discriminate between Christians, Muslims, northerners, or southerners.
He explained that the real issue in the country is the value of the naira and foreign exchange challenges, he said this is what is driving inflation and making life difficult for ordinary citizens.
Amaechi insisted that Nigerians are suffering under current economic policies, he said the situation has become worse and needs urgent correction.
He stated that leadership should be judged by results and not political slogans, he said Nigerians are more concerned about survival than political promises.
In his criticism, he directly linked the hardship to the government led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said the administration has not improved the economy in a way that benefits citizens.
He questioned why the ruling party should continue to seek power, he suggested that the political environment should allow other groups to take over leadership.
He criticised the participation of the All Progressives Congress in future elections, he said the party should reflect on its performance before seeking another term.
”Nigerians are suffering. The current president has put us in this suffering. I don’t know why he wants to run. They should be in shame and allow other Nigerians to participate and change the country,” he said….See More
