According to a post on X by @Kenkenlewu As seen in these pictures released by the kidnappers, this is the heartbreaking condition these innocent children are in. Tonight makes it the 10th night since a one-year-old baby, other little children, and school teachers were kidnapped in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
I watched some videos of the parents crying and begging. The agony in their voices is something no parent should ever experience. Pain, regret, fear… “Had I known” has now become the cry of many families.
The abduction happened in the quiet hours of the night when gunmen stormed the school premises and dragged away pupils and their teachers. Among them is a baby barely old enough to walk, and children who should be in class learning their ABCs, not held hostage in a forest. The images released show exhausted faces, torn clothes, and the blank stare of fear that no child should ever have to wear.
For the parents left behind, each night without their children feels like a lifetime. In the videos circulating online, mothers wail and fathers break down as they plead with the government and anyone who can help to bring their children home. One father said, “I sent my child to school to learn, not to be taken from me. Now I don’t know if I will see him again.”
To some parents, education is no longer a thing of joy. Sending their children to school now feels like sending them into danger. For many, school is gradually becoming a source of fear instead of hope. Classrooms that once represented opportunity are now places parents hesitate to send their children to. Teachers, too, are living in fear, wondering if they will be the next target.
The painful part is we have a president who is also a grandfather 💔. Many Nigerians are asking how a grandfather can sleep soundly while other grandfathers and grandmothers are spending sleepless nights begging for their grandchildren’s release. The expectation is that someone who understands the bond between a grandparent and a child would act with urgency and empathy.
Security agencies say operations are ongoing, but 10 nights later, there has been no official word on the location or condition of the hostages. Families say they have received no direct communication from the kidnappers beyond the pictures and videos meant to inflict pain…See More
