Buba Galadima, a stalwart of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has confirmed that the party has formally zoned its presidential ticket to the southern region of the country ahead of future elections.
Galadima made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television, where he spoke on internal party arrangements, power rotation, and the NDC’s strategic positioning in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
He said: “We have zoned the party presidential candidature to the south. No mincing words. We have zoned it to the south.”
According to him, the decision reflects the party’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and regional balance in the distribution of political offices. He stressed that the zoning arrangement was reached internally and would guide the party’s selection process going forward.
Galadima explained that zoning remains a critical factor in Nigeria’s political structure, helping to manage diversity and maintain national unity. He argued that the NDC’s decision was aimed at strengthening internal cohesion while also responding to longstanding debates around regional representation in the country’s leadership.
