Hon. Kasimu Maigari, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Legislators’ Forum, has commented on recent political developments involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, May 4, 2026.
The discussion followed a recent opposition meeting held in Ibadan, where political stakeholders had indicated plans to present a united front with a single presidential candidate. Responding to a question on whether that position remained feasible, Maigari referenced recent engagements with Peter Obi.
He said, “Thank you very much. I can say, last we met with Peter Obi, the day before yesterday, he was saying that the coalition would continue. We’ll keep on talking, irrespective of leaving ADC to another political platform. Maybe we may continue talking and see how we can make an alliance to present one candidate. I’m quoting from what Peter Obi told us in our forum the day before yesterday.”
Maigari noted that discussions around coalition-building were ongoing, even as questions emerged regarding the implications of potential political realignments. He stated, “But before then, people may be thinking whether ADC would be affected or not. My worry is not about ADC. My worry is Peter Obi pushed Igbo 20 years backward from coming to the presidency. That’s my worry.”
When asked to clarify his position, Maigari expressed his assessment of the political outlook ahead of the elections. He said, “Peter Obi is not going to win this election. It’s very obvious.
