A post by @BRICSinfo claims that the United States has asked China to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restoring disrupted energy shipments.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil supply flows, has faced major disruption in 2026 following Iranian restrictions imposed during escalating US-Israeli military actions.
In response, Washington implemented a naval blockade of Iranian ports and announced a policy of escorting neutral commercial vessels through the strait under US-guided protection.
The closures and countermeasures have led to stranded ships, supply chain delays, and sharp increases in global oil prices. Energy markets remain volatile as diplomatic efforts seek to prevent further escalation.
China’s potential involvement reflects its economic relationship with Iran.
As Iran’s top oil buyer, Beijing holds significant leverage through energy trade ties. China has also publicly criticized aspects of US military and blockade actions in the region, describing them in past statements as destabilizing.
If Washington has indeed sought Beijing’s assistance, it would signal a pragmatic diplomatic move aimed at stabilizing global markets.
