United States President Donald Trump has signaled that Washington is prepared to step up military action against Iran, expressing doubts about Tehran’s sincerity as diplomatic efforts continue.
Speaking in an interview aired by Fox TV on Saturday, August 1, 2026, Trump said the United States would not hesitate to respond forcefully if Iran continued what he described as hostile actions during negotiations.
The US president suggested that military pressure on Iran could increase if the situation worsens, warning that sustained strikes could eventually force Tehran to reconsider its position.
Trump also questioned Iran’s commitment to ongoing talks, accusing its leaders of acting in bad faith while negotiations were still in progress.
According to him, a recent missile attack targeting a US military base in Jordan raised concerns about Iran’s intentions at a time when both sides were expected to be pursuing diplomatic solutions.
Reflecting on the incident, Trump said: “I’m losing faith in them because they do lie and they do misrepresent. The other day five missiles were shot, we knocked them down, but we’re in the middle of the negotiations and I’m waiting for Steve to call me.”
