I Heard My Mom’s Voice, She Was Shouting, I Opened The Door Saw They Were Herdsmen – Destiny Jegbefume

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed a 55-year-old farmer, Mr. Friday Jegbefume, and kidnapped his wife, Mrs. Anthonia Jegbefume.

According to the report by Vanguard, the gunmen stormed the residence of the deceased in Okpe-Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, and perpetrated the act.

The attackers are demanding a ransom of N20 million for her release of Mrs Anthonia Jegbefume.

According to sources, the armed men, armed AK-47 rifles, broke into Jegbefume’s home around 8 pm, and shoot him dead.

It was gathered that the village has been deserted because of the attack, with most residents fleeing to neighboring communities in fear. Only a few elderly men and women are now left in the village.

Destiny Jegbefume, the deceased’s son, recounted the terrifying experience, saying that he was in the bathroom when the attackers invaded their home.

He said that he heard his mother’s shouts and saw the herdsmen dragging her away.

Speaking further, he said that he attempted to intervene but one of the gunmen brought out a knife to stab him. He said that he suffered a minor injury on his finger before he managed to escape.

He said, “I heard my mother’s voice, she was shouting. I opened the  door and saw that they were herdsmen. They started dragging the  door with me and one of them brought out a knife and wanted to stab me.

“We started dragging the knife and it cut me on my finger, I poured water and ran away.”
