Hunger is a universal issue — it didn’t start with Tinubu, Zack Orji tells critics

According to a report by The Cable on Friday, April 10, 2026, Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has spoken out against critics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, stating that many Nigerians form strong opinions based largely on misleading information found on social media rather than conducting proper investigations.

During an appearance on the KaaTruths podcast, the respected actor recounted an experience he had while in the United Kingdom, where some individuals challenged him over his open support for President Tinubu. According to Orji, he did not hesitate to defend his stance, questioning why he should not back the leader of his own country.

He explained that his support is rooted in personal conviction, adding that he believes the president deserves time to implement his policies and reforms. Orji maintained that it is reasonable to allow any administration the opportunity to execute its plans before passing judgment.

The film star also highlighted the complexity of reforms, noting that such changes are rarely easy because they often involve dismantling existing systems in order to introduce new structures. He stressed that this process can be uncomfortable but is sometimes necessary for long-term progress.

Orji further argued that a large portion of information circulating online is inaccurate. He claimed that many people fail to verify what they read, instead spreading and reacting to negative narratives without proper understanding. He likened the situation to unfairly damaging someone’s reputation without evidence.

Reflecting on his encounter abroad, Orji said he was questioned about his loyalty to Tinubu, but he responded by emphasizing that supporting one’s president should not be seen as unusual, especially when there is belief in the leader’s direction. He reiterated that patience is essential, particularly when dealing with significant policy changes.

On the issue of the current economic situation, Orji insisted that the administration’s reforms are beginning to show positive outcomes, including a reduction in the cost of certain food items. However, when it was pointed out that many Nigerians are experiencing hardship and hunger, the actor responded by stating that economic difficulties and food insecurity are global challenges that did not start with the current government.

In addition, Orji recently expressed the view that President Tinubu stands out as the most capable candidate among those expected to contest the 2027 presidential election, further reinforcing his confidence in the president’s leadership and vision for the country…See More
