According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Thursday, May 28, 2026, political affairs analyst, Dr. Ibrahim Modibo, criticized the economic management of the current administration while speaking on the state of Nigeria’s democracy and governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the discussion, Modibo expressed concern over the country’s worsening economic situation, rising insecurity, and increasing hardship among Nigerians. He argued that many citizens were struggling to cope with the high cost of living, adding that food prices and unemployment had continued to put pressure on ordinary families across the country.
The analyst also questioned the effectiveness of the government’s economic team, insisting that more practical solutions were needed to revive the nation’s economy and restore public confidence. According to him, many government officials appear disconnected from the realities faced by average Nigerians.
“ For me, today, most of the economic experts under this government are mere newspaper tigers,” Modibo said during the programme.
He further stated that Nigerians are expecting leaders and political parties to present realistic policies capable of addressing economic decline, insecurity, and poverty before the 2027 general elections.
