Do not let us behave like thugs, I will not agree to anyone abusing Tinubu on this platform–Momodu

Based on a report from The Sun dated Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Dele Momodu, a media entrepreneur and publisher, has criticized what he refers to as the mistreatment of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He asserted that Atiku deserves to be respected for his significant role in enabling Peter Obi’s early political journey when he selected Obi as his vice-presidential candidate.

Momodu shared his thoughts in a post on X on Monday, emphasizing that it is unfair for Atiku to face backlash from some of Obi’s supporters, even though he had chosen Obi as his running mate in the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party.

He pointed out that these actions ignore Atiku’s contribution to Obi’s nationwide political visibility.

During a later discussion on X Space, Momodu talked about the 2023 presidential election, addressing ongoing debates about Obi’s performance.

He challenged claims that the Labour Party candidate was robbed of victory, especially considering the results in areas considered to be his strongholds.

He further analyzed the broader context of Nigerian politics, noting the challenges of gaining nationwide support in a country with diverse regions.

He mentioned that candidates from southern Nigeria cannot rely only on their regional backing if they wish to achieve victory on a national scale.

Momodu also supported Atiku’s ongoing participation in politics, portraying the former vice president as someone with vast experience, commitment, and focus.

He highlighted that Atiku finished in second place in the 2023 presidential election, which he believes showcases his lasting influence and significance in the political arena.

Moreover, he touched on the nature of political discourse in the nation, urging for more civil exchanges among followers of different political leaders.
