Martins Obono, a human rights and international criminal lawyer, has stated that Peter Obi is likely to win the South-East and South-South states again in the 2027 presidential election due to growing dissatisfaction with the ruling party.
In an interview with THE VOLUME POD, on Wednesday August 5, 2026, Obono said the current administration is not widely supported because many Nigerians are facing economic hardship.
Obono stated that many voters in Northern Nigeria are expected to support a northern candidate, identifying Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, as the likely beneficiary.
He said there will be a strong pushback against the ruling party in the South-East and South-South, which he believes will give Peter Obi another victory in those regions.
