According to a video posted on Arise News on Thursday 6, 2026, Martin Vincent Ortse, known as Very Dark Man, said he was directly invited to join a movement associated with musician and activist Seun Kuti, but turned it down because he disagreed with their political approach.
He made the statement while responding to ongoing public criticism from Seun Kuti about his methods as an online influencer.
He explained that Seun Kuti had claimed publicly that he never asked Very Dark Man to join his movement, a statement he said was untrue and one he could disprove with video evidence.
In his words, Very Dark Man said, “Seun said that he never asked me to join, right, and then I brought out that video. Boom.
“You asked me to join. You literally beg me to join, but I refuse because I don’t like their own idea of politics,” he said.
He further explained that he disagreed with the movement’s approach to humanitarian work, claiming members criticized him for stepping in to help citizens directly instead of waiting for government intervention.
He said building Nigeria was a shared responsibility and that he preferred to act immediately rather than wait for a particular political outcome.
Very Dark Man said he still respects Seun Kuti but does not intend to align with his political ideology, describing their current disagreement as rooted in differing views on how change should be pursued in Nigeria.
