We Have A Minister Who Was Riding Rolls-Royce With Escorts And Said His Father Was Rich-Otubanjo

Research Professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Femi Otubanjo, has said that no Nigerian president since independence can genuinely claim moral perfection, arguing that political leaders across generations have been shaped by power and privilege.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Otubanjo said Nigeria’s political history shows that leaders at the highest level have all operated within systems that expose them to controversy, wealth, and influence.

“Who of the former presidents since this republic can come out and say I’m a saint?” he asked during the interview, suggesting that political leadership in Nigeria has rarely been free from ethical questions or public scrutiny.

He added that discussions about morality in governance must take into account the realities of political life in Nigeria, where access to power often comes with significant material advantages and elite privileges.

Otubanjo also referenced a serving political figure to illustrate what he described as the contradiction between public perception and personal background of some leaders.
