Omoyele Sowore, Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has said that student activists played a key role in ending military rule in Nigeria.
Speaking in a video shared by WORSHIPMEDIA, Sowore explained that he and other young people in universities were actively involved in the struggle against military governance. He said the movement was not carried out by him alone but through joint efforts with other student activists across the country.
He added that the campaign against military rule also involved collaboration with prominent human rights lawyers and activists such as Gani Fawehinmi and Femi Falana, among others.
According to him, the different groups formed a united front that consistently resisted military rule and pushed for the return of democracy in Nigeria.
