According to a report by Daily Trust on Monday, July 6, 2026, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has alleged that insurgent groups have gained significant influence within Nigeria’s military following the recent withdrawal of United States troops from the country.
Speaking during a church service, the cleric claimed that both Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have established strategic networks within the Nigerian Army. He made the remarks while addressing the nation’s security challenges and commenting on the implications of the departure of American military personnel.

He also alleged that the actions of individuals he described as fifth columnists had contributed to the deaths of several senior military officers. He said these developments had raised serious questions about the effectiveness of ongoing military operations and the level of trust between Nigeria and its international security partners.
The cleric further maintained that the worsening security situation has made foreign troops reluctant to continue working alongside Nigerian security agencies, citing concerns over their personal safety.
In his remarks, Dachomo said, “You have seen how many Army Generals are being killed by the insurgents through information of the fifth columnists.
