I Know Peter Obi More Than Any other Person; He Can’t Do More Than Anybody Else in the North-Shinkafi

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has dismissed claims that NDC presidential aspirant Peter Obi would deliver unprecedented development to Northern Nigeria if elected president, insisting that the former Anambra State governor does not possess any exceptional capacity that sets him apart from other leaders.

Shinkafi made the remarks during an interview on TVC News on Monday, July 6, 2026, while reacting to Obi’s reported promise that he would accomplish in the North what no previous Nigerian president had achieved.

According to the APC stalwart, his opinion is based on years of firsthand political experience with Obi. He explained that he worked closely with the former Anambra State governor during their time in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he served as the party’s National Secretary.

Shinkafi said his role in APGA gave him an in-depth understanding of Obi’s leadership style and political abilities, noting that he personally signed Obi’s nomination papers on two occasions when he contested for the Anambra governorship under the party’s platform.

He argued that this experience placed him in a unique position to assess Obi’s strengths and limitations, adding that nothing in Obi’s political record suggests he would achieve results in Northern Nigeria beyond what previous leaders had accomplished.

The APC chieftain maintained that while Obi has political experience, he does not believe the NDC presidential aspirant possesses any exceptional qualities that would enable him to outperform other leaders in addressing the region’s challenges.

Shinkafi’s comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to gather momentum, with major political figures presenting competing visions for Northern Nigeria, a region widely regarded as one of the most decisive voting blocs in the country.

In his words, “I know Peter Obi more than any other person, politically, because I served as national secretary of APGA, the party that produced him as governor of Anambra State. I signed Peter Obi’s nomination form twice for him to become governor of Anambra State. So I knew him very well. I know what he can do, I know what he cannot do. So he cannot do anything better than anybody else in northern Nigeria…See More
