The Reason We Don’t Reply Peter Obi’s Supporters Is Because We Want Peace’ – Rotimi Amaechi

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has explained why his supporters chose not to engage in clashes with followers of former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Speaking in comments reported by VANGUARD on Saturday, May 2, 2026, Amaechi said his camp deliberately avoided responding to attacks because they believe peace is more important than political confrontation. He stressed that violence would not help solve Nigeria’s challenges.

Amaechi, who is a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has recently attracted public attention after expressing interest in running for president under the party’s platform.

His declaration reportedly sparked criticism from some supporters of Peter Obi, many of whom believe the ADC presidential ticket should go to the former Labour Party candidate instead.

Despite the reactions and verbal criticism directed at his camp, Amaechi stated that they intentionally refused to retaliate in order to maintain calm and avoid unnecessary conflict.

According to him, “It’s not because we don’t know English or we cannot reply. The reason we don’t reply is that we always want peace.”

The statement has since generated conversations among political observers and supporters across social media….See More
