Our Party Has Never Considered Taking NDC to Court; We Have No Reason to Do So—ADA Publicity Secretary

Leye Igbagbo, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), has clarified the party’s position regarding the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), dismissing suggestions that ADA is involved in any dispute or legal confrontation over the group’s registration or existence.

Igbagbo made the clarification during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed circulating speculations that ADA might be considering legal action to challenge the legitimacy of the NDC. He firmly rejected such claims, stating that the party has no intention or justification to pursue any court case against another political organisation.

He explained that the rumours did not reflect the position of the party and stressed that ADA remains focused on its internal political agenda rather than engaging in avoidable conflicts with other groups in the political space.

The ADA spokesperson also commented on statements attributed to Umaru Ardo, suggesting that they may have been misunderstood or wrongly interpreted in public discourse. According to him, the comments being linked to Ardo did not reflect any deliberate intention to drag the NDC into legal proceedings.

Igbagbo further clarified that matters concerning political party registration fall strictly within the jurisdiction of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that such processes are governed by constitutional and regulatory frameworks.

He explained that, based on available information, the NDC had applied for registration as a political party but was not initially approved by INEC. He added that the group subsequently sought legal redress, and a court ruling eventually directed that it be registered.

According to him, this legal outcome should not generate controversy among other political stakeholders, especially since the process followed judicial procedures.
