If We Had Any Hand in Her Death, Let It Follow My Family Too “, Umahi Reacts To Death Of Staff

During an interview on Channels TV, Minister of Works Dave Umahi dismissed allegations linking him or members of his family to the death of his staff member, Mary Habila. He described the accusations as unfair and said the tragic incident should not be turned into a political issue.

Umahi said the death of the young nurse had caused him and his family deep pain because she had worked closely with them for years. He maintained that there was no reason for anyone to suggest that his family was involved in her death.

“If We Had Any Hand in Her Death, Let It Follow My Family Too—but People Must Stop Turning This Tragedy Into Politics,” Umahi said while responding to claims circulating after the incident.

The minister stated that he had nothing to hide and was prepared for every lawful step necessary to establish the truth. He stressed that investigations should rely on evidence instead of speculation or political narratives.

According to Umahi, some individuals were taking advantage of the unfortunate incident to score political points without waiting for the outcome of official investigations. He said such actions were unfair to the deceased and her family.

He also said the allegations ignored the close relationship that existed between his family and Mary Habila. He described her as a trusted member of his household whose death had affected everyone around him.

Umahi warned that making unverified accusations over such a sensitive matter could cause unnecessary pain to innocent people. He urged those making public claims to exercise caution and allow investigators to complete their work.
