In a recent statement via his official X account, former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to recent political discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election, mocking promises being made by Peter Obi ahead of the race.
”Give me your 50k I will double it to 100k is same as give me one term, it’s okay for me. Politicians write their tough promises with pencil and not with pens,” he wrote.
In his post, the former lawmaker compared political promises to financial schemes where people are promised quick rewards that may never materialize, he suggested that some campaign assurances should be treated with caution by the public.
Sani comments is linked to recent reports involving Peter Obi and conversations about a possible single-term arrangement aimed at gaining northern political support ahead of the 2027 elections, the former senator stated that politicians often make ambitious promises during campaigns but later fail to stand by them after gaining power.
According to him, many political commitments are temporary and can easily change once elections are over, Sani used a metaphor to describe how political pledges are sometimes unreliable and argued that many leaders make promises lightly and without firm commitment, leaving voters disappointed after elections.
He stated that Nigerian politicians have a history of abandoning campaign promises after assuming office, stating that the issue of trust remains a major factor in Nigerian politics, many voters are becoming more doubtful of campaign assurances due to past experiences with unfulfilled promises from both ruling and opposition politicians…See More
