Ask My Friend Obi Who Is A Trader, Will He Restore The Subsidy If He Becomes President – Oshiomhole

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo State, has challenged presidential aspirants Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi to publicly declare whether they would restore fuel subsidy if elected president.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Oshiomhole said, “Ask my friend Obi, who is a trader, will he restore the subsidy if he becomes President? Ask Amaechi who has also declared: will you restore the subsidy?”

The senator also urged journalists to push candidates on the exchange rate, questioning whether any of them would return to a dual exchange rate regime.

Oshiomhole reminded Nigerians that removing fuel subsidy was not a policy exclusive to President Tinubu, pointing out that all major candidates in the 2023 election had made the same promise.

The senator also addressed his own change of position on the matter, acknowledging that he once opposed subsidy removal but explained that his stance shifted when the subsidy became a tool for corruption. “When the subsidy became a cover for stealing in high places, I did not think I should be a tool used to provide a façade for people to continue bleeding the economy dry,” he said…See More
