After Wasting Over $2.5b On Scandals NNPC Is Asking Nigerians To Trust Another Experiment -Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over its plan to revive the country’s refineries through a new partnership with two Chinese firms.

According to report by DAILY POST on Friday May 8 2026, Atiku said the federal government has already spent over $2.5 billion on refinery rehabilitation projects without achieving meaningful results. He argued that despite these failures, the country is now entering another arrangement that is not clearly explained.

He described the new deal as lacking transparency and warned that repeated attempts to fix the refineries without accountability could lead to further waste of public funds.

Atiku also accused the government of poor management of key national assets, saying Nigerians deserve clearer information on how such critical projects are handled.
