Former Governor Sule Lamido has stated that PDP governors who are leaving the party for the APC are doing so to protect their political ambition
According to a report by The Sun on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Lamido said many of them no longer believe the PDP, which made them governors, can help them win again due to the crisis and division in the party. He said most of them are thinking about their second term and believe APC is their best option
Lamido said the PDP, which once had many governors, is now left with only a few such as Bala Mohammed, Seyi Makinde, Ahmadu Fintiri, and Dauda Lawal. He also suggested that Lawal may leave the party because he wants to run for second term. He said, “A party that had so many governors now has only three governors Bala, Makinde and Fintiri. Dauda is there also negotiating because he is going to run for a second term”
