In a report made by Punch Newspapers on 23rd November, 2025, The Christ Apostolic Church, CAC Oke Isegun in Eruku, Kwara State, on Sunday held a special service inside its blood-splattered auditorium, praying for the safe return of members kidnapped during Tuesday’s bandit attack.
The church secretary, Michael Agbabiaka, confirmed that 38 people were abducted, not the 60 reported online. He explained that 35 members were initially listed, but later checks showed three non-members were also taken.
He added that the kidnappers first demanded N100m per victim, later reducing it to N20m, before cutting communication on Friday. Three worshippers were killed and one is still in the hospital.
Despite fear in the community, a few members attended service to strengthen their faith.
During the service, the presiding pastor, Bamidele Lawrence, encouraged the church, revealing that God gave him a divine assurance concerning the victims.
According to the pastor, God promised him the abducted worshippers will return safely, urging everyone to hold on to hope and trust God’s word.
The post stirred lots of reactions, some supported the man of God while others were against opening the church for worship today.
