I Went On A Date With Him Before He Got Together With Regina — Opera Singer, Abiodun Koya

Nigerian-born classical and operatic singer Abiodun Koya has shared new details about her brief encounter with billionaire businessman and politician Ned Nwoko. Koya made the revelation during an interview on Outside The Box on The Podcast Network on Friday, November 14, 2025.

The host raised the ongoing public controversy surrounding Nwoko and his wife, actress Regina Daniels, noting that Koya had once been linked to the businessman. He asked: “You know, this billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko has been trending in the news um he and his wife Regina Daniels for a while. You are close to the man. You right.”

Koya clarified the nature of their encounter, denying any close relationship. She replied: “I am not close to him. I just went on a date with him before he got together with Regina. Like maybe a year, a year and a half, a year before that. Before he even met her. Um and I knew it wasn’t it wasn’t for me. One date and I was I was turned off.” Asked why she ended the interaction after just one outing, Koya said her decision stemmed from a single moment that raised concerns about values and character. The host asked: “Why?”

Koya explained: “Well, I’m a weird girl. My friends tell me. Um and things that I look at, nine out of 10 women wouldn’t look at it. He came to, you know, pick me at my hotel at that time, you know, to go eat at a restaurant. And then as I was coming downstairs, I thought we were going to walk to the parking lot, right? And then I saw him park his Ferrari or some one of those luxurious cars at a spot that said no parking. And this is a serious hotel in Abuja where typically all rules are meant to be followed. And then here you are parking your big car, big man car. And that was the offense for me. I was even thinking, so if I got together with you, let’s say, you know, by chance everything went on well, what are you going to teach our sons? That was the turnoff.
