Kano People Are Telling Kwankwaso Now That They Will Not Support Peter Obi For President -Sheriff

Former Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has claimed that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is encountering resistance from many of his supporters in Kano State over any perceived alliance with Peter Obi ahead of the next presidential election.

During an interview on Channels Television, Sheriff argued that Peter Obi would struggle to gain significant electoral support across Northern Nigeria. According to him, many voters in the region remain unconvinced that Obi is the right candidate to lead the country, adding that those who supported him during the previous election have since reconsidered their political choice.

Sheriff further alleged that Kwankwaso’s supporters have expressed their position clearly, saying they would continue to stand behind the former Kano State governor if he decides to contest the presidency himself. However, he claimed they are unwilling to transfer that support to Peter Obi under any political arrangement.

In addition, Sheriff revisited allegations regarding Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, claiming that Northerners living in the state were forced out during his administration. He did not provide evidence to support the allegation during the interview.

The former governor of Borno State also criticized Obi over what he described as the Labour Party leader’s failure to publicly denounce the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Sheriff argued that many people in Northern Nigeria view such silence with concern, especially on issues relating to national unity and security.

According to Sheriff, Nigerians expect anyone seeking the country’s highest office to clearly reject all forms of separatist movements and actions capable of threatening the nation’s territorial integrity. He maintained that this perception has contributed to the reservations some Northern voters have about Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, while insisting that these concerns could influence political support in the region ahead of future elections…See More
