My Mother Died When I Was In School I Didn’t See Anybody To Sponsor Me, So I Went To ODC-Portable

According to an interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast aired on Monday, July 6, 2026, Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of his childhood, revealing that the death of his mother had a devastating impact on his education and forced him to change schools due to financial hardship.

During the emotional conversation, Portable recounted how losing his mother completely altered the course of his life. He explained that she had been his primary source of care, guidance, and financial support, particularly when it came to paying his school fees. Following her death, he said there was no one willing or able to continue sponsoring his education.

The singer disclosed that the cost of remaining in his former school became too expensive without his mother’s support, leaving him with no choice but to seek a more affordable alternative. As a result, he transferred to ODC so that he could continue his education despite the difficult circumstances.
