Media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has criticised reports claiming that a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Dumebi Kachikwu dissolved the executive led by former Senate President David Mark.
The controversy followed media reports alleging that Kachikwu’s camp had dissolved the David Mark-led structure within the party and that Kachikwu had emerged as the ADC presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reacting to the development, Ibe condemned the report and accused sections of the media of promoting what he described as illegitimate actions.
“Journalism has truly gone to the dogs in Nigeria. This is irresponsible journalism 2.0,” Ibe wrote.
He questioned how a faction, which he alleged was being promoted by the ruling party, could move against what he described as the recognised leadership of the ADC.
“How can a so-called ‘faction’ of the ADC being promoted by the Tinubu-led APC administration dissolve the duly recognised David Mark-led executive of the ADC and the media will celebrate the criminality?” he asked.
The remarks have added to growing tensions within opposition politics as parties continue internal realignments and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The reported dispute within the ADC has generated debate among party supporters and political observers, especially as opposition groups seek to consolidate ahead of future electoral contests.
Neither the David Mark camp nor Kachikwu’s group had issued a detailed response to the latest exchange at the time of filing this report….See More
