Media aide to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, has reacted after sharing a video showing members of the Itsekiri Nation endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In the post shared on social media, Ovie Success described the development as a moment of jubilation, stating that both Tinubu and Oborevwori had emerged as preferred candidates of the Itsekiri people for the next election cycle.
He further claimed that the endorsement signalled support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) among members of the ethnic group ahead of the polls.
According to the statement accompanying the video, the endorsement was reportedly led by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The post also suggested that members of the Itsekiri Nation should support only the APC in future elections, claiming that sons and daughters of the ethnic nationality were expected to align with the party.
The development has since generated reactions online, with supporters welcoming the endorsement as a major political boost for both leaders, while others argued that voting decisions remain individual rights protected under Nigeria’s democratic system.
Political observers have also noted that endorsements by traditional institutions and ethnic groups often attract attention ahead of election cycles but do not automatically determine voting outcomes.
Neither the Presidency nor the Delta State Government had issued additional official statements on the reported endorsement at the time of filing this report.
The endorsement comes amid increasing political realignments and consultations across the country as parties and influential stakeholders gradually position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections….See More
