A heartbreaking photo shared by @MorbidKnowledge shows Yang Niuhua collapsing in grief after learning that her parents died years earlier while searching for her.
Yang was abducted in 1995 at the age of five in Guizhou Province, China, and sold to a family in Hebei for about 3,000 yuan, where she was reportedly forced into life as a child bride.
According to court records and media reports, Yang was kidnapped by a neighbor, Yu Huaying, who later sold her to serve as a wife for a deaf-mute man.
Despite her young age at the time of abduction, Yang retained memories of her real name and fragments of her early life. As she grew older, she began searching for her biological family, determined to uncover the truth about her origins.
While Yang was trying to trace her roots, her parents were also desperately searching for her.
Reports indicate they spent years traveling and making inquiries in hopes of finding their missing daughter. Tragically, her father died in 1997 and her mother in 1998, both reportedly worn down by illness and emotional distress linked to the loss of their child.
Decades later, advances in DNA technology enabled Yang to confirm her biological identity and reconnect with her surviving sister.
The emotional moment when she learned that her parents had passed away was captured in the widely circulated image showing her overcome with grief.
Yu Huaying was later arrested and convicted of trafficking 17 children.
