Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, has condemned the killing of a suspect by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), describing the officer’s actions as unjustifiable and beyond pardon.

Edafe made this known during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed the circumstances surrounding the incident that has sparked public outrage and raised concerns over police conduct in the state.

Explaining the sequence of events, Edafe recounted how the officer had been instructed to transport an arrested suspect to the police station but instead carried out a fatal shooting. He stressed that the act went far beyond professional misconduct, highlighting the disturbing nature of the officer’s actions. “You tried to shoot him the first time that it didn’t work, you removed your magazine, arrange it again and shoot him for the second time. It is not explainable, it’s not pardonable,” Edafe said.

The police spokesperson emphasized that the conduct of the ASP was in clear violation of the rules of engagement and the ethics guiding officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
