Legal practitioner Liborous Oshoma has said that the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party should not be blamed only on Nyesom Wike, insisting that the actions of Seyi Makinde also contributed to the situation.
Oshoma made the remarks during an interview on TVC News while reacting to the court decision that cancelled the party’s Ibadan convention organised by Makinde’s faction.
According to him, there had already been two Federal High Court judgments that restricted Makinde’s faction from going ahead with the convention. He explained that these rulings highlighted certain constitutional procedures and party requirements that needed to be followed before the convention could be held.
Despite these warnings, Oshoma said the faction still proceeded with the convention and other related processes. He noted that ignoring those legal requirements created a situation where the entire exercise could later be invalidated by the court.
He added that many people often accuse Wike of trying to control or destabilise the party. However, he argued that focusing only on Wike does not fully explain the crisis within the party.
Oshoma said Makinde’s actions should also be examined because he allegedly continued with the process despite existing legal concerns and court restrictions.
