The Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, has made a fresh public remark concerning Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly questioning the performance records of former public office holders.

Dokubo made the remarks during a video shared on Facebook on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, where he spoke about leadership assessment and the criteria Nigerians should use in evaluating those seeking higher political office.

In his statement, he referenced former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, while discussing governance performance and developmental outcomes in Nigeria’s political system.

He said, “How can anyone see Peter Obi as fit to become anything; what did he change? — Asari Dokubo,” questioning the level of impact achieved during Obi’s time as governor of Anambra State.

According to him, political leadership should be judged based on visible results, infrastructure development, and economic progress recorded while in office, rather than popularity or political sentiment.

Dokubo further noted that Nigerians are becoming more critical in evaluating political candidates, with increasing attention placed on accountability and measurable achievements ahead of elections.

He also stressed that governance should be assessed through practical impact on citizens’ lives, adding that leadership credibility must be rooted in performance history.

The activist maintained that his message should be taken seriously, urging voters to focus on track records and competence as the 2027 general elections approach, rather than emotions or political narratives….See More
