According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disclosed that the Nigerian Democratic Congress and the African Democratic Congress may still work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso made the statement on Monday during a live interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme while discussing recent political developments, coalition talks, and his political alignment with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
According to him, political discussions and consultations are continuing among different opposition figures as parties begin preparations for the next election cycle.
Kwankwaso explained that despite his departure from the ADC, the possibility of future cooperation between the party and the NDC remains open.
He stated that ongoing political discussions across the country have created room for different parties and political leaders to explore alliances that could strengthen their chances in future elections.
According to him, political parties are increasingly considering broader cooperation because many politicians believe the country is entering another important political period that may require stronger collaboration among opposition groups.
He added that the political environment remains dynamic, with many developments still unfolding ahead of 2027.
The former Kano State governor also spoke about his political relationship with Peter Obi and the growing conversations surrounding opposition unity.
He explained that many Nigerians, especially younger voters, are paying closer attention to leaders they believe can offer credible alternatives in governance.
According to him, recent political movements within opposition parties reflect the desire among many citizens to see stronger cooperation among political figures who share similar ideas about leadership and national development.
He stated that discussions involving major political actors are continuing quietly across different parts of the country as preparations for future elections gradually intensify.
Kwankwaso further stated that many older political figures have not fully understood the rapid changes taking place in Nigeria’s political landscape.
According to him, political attitudes among citizens are changing because younger Nigerians now play a much larger role in shaping political conversations and influencing public opinion.
He explained that social media, digital communication, and increased political awareness among youths have significantly altered the way political campaigns and alliances are viewed across the country.
He added that many young people are now more focused on leadership quality, governance, and economic opportunities rather than relying only on traditional political divisions.
He said, “The NDC and ADC may still work together before the election. So you see, there is a lot happening in this country, but older people don’t even understand….See More
