Wike: You go to some places in Abuja, you get lost because the roads have been opened roads- Farouk

Idi Farouk, a former Director of the National Orientation Agency and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kaduna State, in an interview with The Nigerian Tribune, spoke on several national issues including power rotation, carpet crossing, ministerial performance, state police, use of military contractors, and subsidy savings.

During the interview, he was asked about governance and the Tinubu administration, particularly ministerial performance, and whether he believed that the ministers were not sufficiently amplifying government policies, resulting in citizens being unaware of government activities.

He was further asked to identify the three ministries he considered to have performed worst in public communication and what he would have done differently if he were the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

He said he was not going to identify any ministry as having failed most in public communication, stressing that he was not in a position to “award marks” to ministries and that doing so was not his responsibility.

He further explained that, whether one liked Nyesom Wike or not, people living in Abuja could clearly see that he was working, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

He added that, in his opinion, Wike stood out among ministers in terms of visible performance, especially in infrastructure delivery. He noted that while some areas might still have challenges, Abuja, under Wike’s oversight, had never had it so good in terms of infrastructure development.

Further talking, he said, “You go to some places, you get lost because the roads have been opened. And when you open roads, properties go up. When you open roads, farmers get their produce to market and all that. So, you ask me who is failing. I tell you who I see as performing.”

There are those who believe that some of the green areas in Abuja have been reallocated under him. There is this story about one area earmarked for a hospital in Wuye District that has been earmarked for a residential building.

You know I am talking about the area of infrastructural development. I do not even know about that, what you have just explained now. I don’t know about it. I have not even heard it. So, I cannot even comment on that. I am talking about what I see….See More
