Wike: He Has Chosen People To Be Rivers APC And PDP Gov Candidates, I Had Never Seen Such A Thing—George

Bode George has raised concerns over the political activities of Nyesom Wike in Rivers State, questioning his involvement in the selection of governorship candidates across different political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, George expressed surprise over Wike’s reported endorsement of candidates in both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party despite publicly identifying as a PDP member.

According to George, Wike allegedly supported one individual to emerge as the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State while also backing another person for the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

The PDP chieftain described the situation as unusual and unprecedented in Nigerian politics, stating that he had never witnessed a similar political development where a member of one party openly influences candidate selection in rival political platforms.

George argued that such actions could create confusion within the PDP and weaken party discipline. He stressed that party loyalty should remain clear, especially for high-profile political figures who continue to hold influential positions within government and party structures.

During the interview, George suggested that someone needed to caution Wike over his political conduct. According to him, the only person capable of addressing the situation effectively is Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his words, “A man who says he is a member of our party has nominated somebody to be the governorship candidate for APC in Rivers, and is also nominating somebody to be PDP governorship candidate. What kind of thing is this? I had never seen anything like this. Somebody needs to talk to him and the only man who can caution him is the president.”
